020 has been a whirlwind and a lot of plans that were set at the start of the year took a quick nose dive. There was a lot that went right for me in 2020 goal wise and a lot that didn’t go as planned. Now that 2021 is here, I am choosing to look at it as a time to start fresh. Below you will find 5 of my tips for how to set and achieve your goals for 2021.
1.Get a planner/notebook
Every year it seems like I have more and more going on work wise so having a planner is a must. It gives me the opportunity to get all of my thoughts down on paper and to visually see what I have to look forward to. I love weekly planners because they allow me to set goals for the week and to see what I have going on for only the week ahead.
2. Set small goals
It is so important to not get overwhelmed when setting goals, so start small. I usually like to set 3 small goals per week. That way I am not getting overwhelmed by the thought of so many things happening at once. And if those small goals aren’t met, I roll them over to the next week.

3. Find an accountability partner
This is one that I haven’t utilized as much in the past, but this year I want to try it out! Having a friend or partner to check in with can be so beneficial because you don’t feel like you are working alone. Having an accountability partner gives you the opportunity to cheer each other on when those small goals are met each week!
4. Give yourself grace
Life happens and things may not always go as planned, I mean look at the year 2020 for example. When things aren’t going exactly as you planned or you are just mentally exhausted, allow yourself time to reset and regroup so that you can approach those goals again with a fresh mind.
5. Self-reflection
Whenever I am feeling down or feeling like i’m not reaching my goals at the rate I want throughout the year, I look back on all that I have accomplished so far and it gives me all the motivation that I need. Sometimes we get so caught up on focusing on everything ahead that we forget about where we started and how far we have come.
I hope some of the tips that I shared help some of you kickstart your new year off on the right foot! Remember, plan ahead and work smarter not harder!
